MUSLIMS AND US
On Yom Kippur afternoon, Rabbi Schoolman will offer a short introduction to
Jewish-Muslim relations through the ages. He will discuss the intimate
dialogue that Jews have had with Muslims through the ages, including the Golden
Age in Spain, German Jewish fascination with Islam in the 19th century, and our
troubled relations in the 20th century. He will begin with an
introduction to Muslim beliefs and a brief look at the Qur'an, including
parallel passages in the Torah. There will be plenty of time for
questions and discussion. We will continue with the Concluding Service
after this class.
